Una de las fuentes principales de energ\u00eda debida a movimientos oscilatorios est\u00e1 constituida por las olas del oc\u00e9ano. Esta energ\u00eda se conoce como undimotriz y presenta ventajas frente a otras energ\u00edas renovables debido a una menor aleatoridad en lo que respecta a la predicci\u00f3n de condiciones \u00f3ptimas.<\/p>\n        <p>Los sistemas que convierten energ\u00eda undimotriz en energ\u00eda cin\u00e9tica rotacional de un p\u00e9ndulo o sistema de p\u00e9ndulos presentan una gran potencialidad, dada la alta energ\u00eda cin\u00e9tica que puede alcanzar un p\u00e9ndulo en rotaci\u00f3n. La idea b\u00e1sica consiste en un conjunto de p\u00e9ndulos independientes entre s\u00ed, ubicados sobre una plataforma flotante. Las olas del mar imponen a este sistema un movimiento vertical, a una cierta frecuencia (promediada).<\/p>\n        <p>Si se logra mantener rotaciones estables de los p\u00e9ndulos con respecto a sus ejes de pivot, generadores adosados a dichos ejes pueden extraer la energ\u00eda cin\u00e9tica y convertirla en energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica, la cual puede ser posteriormente inyectada en la red. Aunque la idea es conceptualmente simple, el desarrollo de estos sistemas undimotrices se halla a\u00fan en una etapa incipiente, dada la dificultad de mantener el movimiento rotacional, el cu\u00e1l coexiste con movimientos oscilatorios y ca\u00f3ticos. A esto se suma que la excitaci\u00f3n inducida por el oleaje presenta aspectos de estoc\u00e1sticidad, si bien puede considerarse peri\u00f3dica con frecuencia de excitaci\u00f3n promediada. <\/p>\n        <p>La comprensi\u00f3n de la din\u00e1mica no lineal de estos sistemas, que incluye el estudio de sincronizaci\u00f3n entre p\u00e9ndulos, permitir\u00e1 dise\u00f1ar un sistema de control \u00f3ptimo que asegure el inicio y el mantenimiento del movimiento rotacional con una m\u00ednima energ\u00eda entregada al sistema.
