Una de ellas es la cat\u00e1lisis heterog\u00e9nea. La cat\u00e1lisis se utiliza en muchos procesos industriales desde hace mas de un siglo, sin embargo, la investigaci\u00f3n experimental a nivel de at\u00f3mico no se ha desarrollado hasta hace unos 25 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n        <p>Conocer los mecanismos catal\u00edticos es indispensable para dise\u00f1ar nuevos catalizadores\/absorbentes y aumentar su eficacia y, por otro lado, puede resultar una v\u00eda efectiva para ayudar a comprender las causas de ciertos fen\u00f3menos aun no dilucidados. <\/p>\n        <p>La simulaci\u00f3n te\u00f3rica de procesos f\u00edsicos \u2013 qu\u00edmicos sobre superficies se plantea como una alternativa para obtener informaci\u00f3n que no es f\u00e1cilmente accesible a trav\u00e9s de t\u00e9cnicas experimentales y constituye un m\u00e9todo alternativo al de prueba y error para el desarrollo de materiales, sin altos costos en tiempos e inversiones.<\/p>\n        <p>El gran incremento en la potencia computacional en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os y el desarrollo de c\u00f3digos te\u00f3ricos eficaces, est\u00e1 haciendo que la ciencia de materiales computacionales sea un \u00e1rea de importancia en aumento en cat\u00e1lisis y ciencia de superficies. El objetivo general del presente proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n apunta a lograr un mayor conocimiento sobre las diferentes reacciones catal\u00edticas involucradas utilizando m\u00e9todos te\u00f3ricos y computacionales especialmente adaptados. <\/p>\n        <p>Se propone explotar las capacidades de los m\u00e9todos computacionales para predecir m\u00e9todos de corrosi\u00f3n en materiales industriales expuestos a atmosferas corrosivas y para identificar materiales promisorios para vehiculacion de drogas para su liberaci\u00f3n controlada o como potenciales catalizadores en
